Shahrukh Khan is seen as father for the first time on the silver screen which he plays marvelously well. Rani Mukherjee has the task of playing the most attaractive and confident of the characters and she does it with a perfection. Kajol plays a tomboyish girl who transforms into a beautiful lady. The entire supporting cast contributes to the film with brief but strong performances.
The movie opens with Rahul ( Shahrukh Khan) at his wife Tina's (Rani Mukherjee) funeral. Tina has died during childbirth and has left eight letters to be given to their daughter (Sana Saeed) on each of her birthdays. In the letters the daughter learns about Anjali's (Kajol) love for her father Rahul ( Shahrukh Khan). The girl decides to find Anjali and get her married to her father. Sana Saeed finally finds Kajol but it is a bit late since she is engaged to Salman Khan. I would highly recommend this movie to soap opera lovers as it can be guaranteed to bring tears into your eyes. "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" is not a film with a message. It is pure escapist cinema at its best. Karan Johar has done a good job as a debut director.I really like & love this movies. It is my favourite movie. I enjoy the movie very much.
