Amazing video – I love it! I saw ana amazing display off the coast of Southern California 2 weeks ago. Check out the video on my profile – it’s the only one posted. The most amazing experience ever!
“In this part of the world where women aren’t in the forefront of things?”….excuse me, but the first female prime minister in the world was a Sri Lankan….Granted it is more challenging for a woman to make it in a patriarchal society, but she needs to learn to phrase her sentences with tact.
This Biologist Asha doesn’t know the gender equality in Sri Lanka. Women have every right in Sri Lanka as men. Sri Lanka have been under the rule of Female leaders. The world’s first woman prime-minister was from Sri Lanka. I think Asha have not lived in Sri Lanka although she has born there. In Sri Lanka, Women are taking lead. There are considerable amount of female participation in Science and Engineering fields. So Sri Lanka is not a place what this Marine Biologist thinks
@ChowMeinChowdown Uhm, I’m gonna take a break from this for a while to concentrate on my religious studies. I hereby hand over leadership of this organisation to Saqib, who will carry out my duties until I return. Goodbye for now, brother.
And just so you know, I don’t hate you or wish any bad will upon you. You are entitled to your opinion.
@ChowMeinChowdown Please ignore my comrade until he has sorted himself out. He doesn’t understand what he is doing. His comments are childish and they miss the true intelligence of this great individual.
@Mangoyle It is easy for us, biologically predisposed to teleology, to assume and look for patterns of design and intentionality in nature. God is a misnomer. Truly, invoking God to explain the intricacies and mysteries of the universe presents greater questions about His origin. Hence, God cannot qualify even as a remotely viable hypothesis.
@Mangoyle The term rightly encompasses Abrahamic gods like Allah. I’m not sure where you get your info from but as I see it, He really doesn’t mind giving off the impression of anthropomorphism (as does Yahweh). For me the answer is obvious – they are man-made concepts.
@ChowMeinChowdown God isn’t an anthropomorphic entity. He isn’t a talking rabbit. He is Alpha and Omega; beginning and end; all that is, has been or will be. He isn’t a character is a Disney cartoon.
So, to business. If no being created the universe, then how did such perfect designs come around. The design of nature, animals and the laws of physics are so intricate and amazing that they couldn’t possibly happen randomly.
I assume you’re acquainted with the watchmaker analogy?
@Mangoyle I assume “no one” refers to any anthropomorphic entity. Indeed by that definition, I have to agree with the idea that the universe arose randomly.
@18sacky Saqib you really aren’t helping. You are vastly more intelligent than me, act like it, yeah? Speak like a rational person. He is speaking in respectful language, so will you. You are only damaging our cause. Otherwise we cannot win this crusade against Mr Irreverence.
@ChowMeinChowdown Good to see you back. Maybe.
Of course it should be noted that my God is the Muslim God, the Jewish God, the Sikh God and possibly the Catholic God (though they are more inclined to devil worship than worshiping the Lord). Welcome to the wonderful world of Abrahamic religions.
And by random I mean no one created the universe, no one at least set the ball in motion.
@Mangoyle Unfortunately the downside of most religions (at least the monotheistic ones) is the exclusion of other deities, you know, like in the “We’re all atheists. I just go one God further” sense. It would be beneficial to humanity if every theist could see the world in your view, that is, tolerant of other faiths, but I’m afraid it’s not realistic. Bible inerrantists’ fundamental view that only their God is real predisposes them to confront conflicting theories. Could u first define random?
@18sacky There are countless other ways apart from having someone post comments on a wildlife video. There is a time and place for everything. Way to turn my accusation on its head! Now I’m the sensitive one.
The music of Sri Lanka originates in cultural traditions deriving from three influences: the religious practices of Buddhism, the aftereffects of Portuguese colonization, and the commercial and historical influence of Indian culture - specifically, Bollywood cinema. The Theravada sect of Buddhism has influenced Sri Lankan Music since Buddhism arrived in Sri Lanka two millennia ago. Portuguese colonizers arrived centuries after the Buddha, in the mid 15th century, bringing with them cantiga ballads, ukuleles and guitars.

October 27th, 2011 - 06:32
Why do you have to make a theologic discussion over a whale video? ._.

Hopefully there will be more stories about Sri Lanka like this rather than on the war!!
